Did Google Lie To Us? Plus Latest AI News, Twists, and Turns

From Controversies to Cutting-Edge Innovations

Hey AIpreneur,

Hope you're all doing fantastic!

“AIpreenur Bites” Saturday issue is always all about latest AI news.

Before we dive into the latest AI buzz, let me take you back to a memory from last summer.

I was strolling down the main street of Lake Placid, NY – yes, the very place that hosted two Winter Olympics and witnessed the "Miracle on Ice."

Amidst the bustling tourist spots, I discovered a nearly hidden gem: a small, quaint bookstore.

Nestled away from the usual hustle, it was like stepping into a different era.

As I browsed through shelves lined with old sci-fi novels, it hit me how those fictional AI dreams are now part of our everyday reality.

Speaking of which, let's jump into this week's AI news roundup.

1. Google's Gemini: The New AI Kid on the Block Google has unveiled Gemini, a new AI model that's stirring up the scene.

It's got three versions: Nano for mobile, Pro (which is getting mixed reviews), and the much-anticipated Ultra, which is yet to hit the public domain.

Interestingly, Gemini Ultra seems to outshine the older GPT-4 model, but not the latest GPT-4 Turbo.

However, there's a twist – some of Google's demos weren't as 'real-time' as they appeared, raising a few eyebrows in the tech community.

2. Elon Musk's Latest AI Venture: Grock Elon Musk is at it again, this time with Grock, now available to X Premium Plus subscribers.

It's got a fun mode for quirky answers and a regular mode for standard responses.

But, there's no chat history yet, so any gems you get from Grock, you'll have to save manually.

3. OpenAI's Big Move: $51M in AI Chips OpenAI is making a hefty investment in AI chips from RAI, a company backed by OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman.

These neuromorphic processing units are designed to mimic the human brain.

It's a bold step, showing just how serious OpenAI is about leading the AI revolution.

4. Sam Altman: Time Magazine's CEO of the Year Speaking of Sam Altman, he's been named CEO of the Year by Time Magazine.

This accolade comes after his strong leadership during OpenAI's internal challenges, proving his mettle as a leader who can steer the AI ship through turbulent waters.

Expect better search capabilities, more intuitive rewriting features in Edge, and a deeper understanding of your queries in Bing.

6. Apple Jumps on the AI Bandwagon Apple's not one to be left behind in the AI race.

They've released MLX, a framework for building AI models on Apple silicon chips.

It's a clear signal that Apple wants a piece of the AI pie, especially among developers.

7. Stability AI's New Model: Stable LM Zephyr 3B Stability AI has rolled out Stable LM Zephyr 3B, a more compact model that promises to run on less powerful machines. It's a non-commercial release, which is a bit of a departure from their usual open-source stance.

8. Meta's AI Alliance and New Features Meta's forming an AI Alliance with big names like AMD and IBM, aiming for safer, more responsible AI.

They're also spicing up Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp with AI-generated images and improved video search.

9. The Rise of AI in Video Creation Tools like Pika 1.0 are making AI-generated videos more accessible and impressive. From animated landscapes to inpainting features, the possibilities are expanding rapidly.

As I left that quaint bookstore, clutching a vintage copy of Asimov's classics, I couldn't help but marvel at the journey from fiction to reality.

AI is not just a dream anymore; it's here, evolving, and reshaping our world.

And we, as AIpreneurs, are at the forefront of this exciting era.

We're not just observers; we're active participants in this unfolding story of technological marvels.
